Ahmad Lawan is set to harmonise Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) with the House of Representatives, thereby, setting up a seven-member committee to that effect. Lawan on Tuesday, said the harmonisation will deal with the different versions of the PIB passed by the National Assembly last week. He noted the composition of the committee at the plenary session will be chaired by the Senate Majority Leader, Hon. Yahaya Abdullahi, while other members are; Mr. Mohammed Sabo, Mr. Albert Bassey Akpan, Mallam Danjuma Goje, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, Ms. Stella Oduah and Mr. Gabriel Suswam. Lawan charged the committee to meet with their counterparts in the house of representatives to have the final documentation of the bill for the President’s assent. According to Lawan; “the conference committee will meet with our counterparts in the House, the House will also announce the composition of the conference committee, and we hope that they will swing into action immediately, so that we are able to have the final document of the PIB which we will transmit for the presidential assent. “So, we expect our delegation here under the leadership of the Senate Leader to engage with our colleagues in the House of Representatives © 2021, maritimemag.
