HeadlinesMaritime Business Performance Shipping buys former Maersk tanker as its fifth vessel By maritimemag August 7, 2019 ShareTweet 0 The newly-rebranded Greek ship owner Performance Shipping has acquired its first Aframax tanker and the fifth vessel overall in the fleet. The delivered unit is the 2011-built Blue Moon, bought from Maersk Tankers where it was formerly named Maersk Jeddah. As disclosed by the ship owner, the contract for the vessel purchase was signed in June 2019. The 104,600 dwt Blue Moon is Performance Shipping’s first vessel outside the container sector. The company currently operates two Post-Panamax and two Panamax container vessels and expects to take delivery of another Aframax tanker in November 2019. According to VesselsValue, the second tanker will be the 2011-built Maersk Jamnagar.
