At press time, an eyewitnesses told Vanguard that fire fighters were still battling to put out the fire. National Public Relations Officer of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents, ANLCA, Kayode Farinto; Chairman of PTML, ANLCA, Akintola Hastrop, and the spokesman of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, PTML Command, Yakubu Mohammed, all confirmed the incident. Earlier in the day, a similar fire outbreak happened at the popular NPA building, popularly known as National, around Tin Can Island Port Second Gate.
