The Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) is hosting a seminar on quality information and data journalism for media professionals.

The organisation in a statement said the event slated for Tuesday September 29, 2020 is meant for those covering energy and the oil and gas sectors of the nation’s economy.
The NAPE also hinted that oil and gas professionals working in the corporate communications departments in oil and gas companies are also expected to participate.
The President, NAPE, Mr. Alex Tarka in the statement announced that the theme of the seminar; ‘Accessing Quality Information & Data Journalism for Oil & Gas Media Professionals’, will focus on enriching the quality of the reportage of events in the oil and gas sector.
He added the workshop will also facilitate in-depth deliberate conversations to address and close the gaps and opportunities in interviews, messaging, reporting and overall coverage of the oil and gas sector in the country by media professionals.
According to him; “the oil and gas industry is highly technical in its processes and operations. It is important that the reportage of events in the oil and gas space by oil and gas media professionals is delivered accurately, in context and with the appropriate degree of details”.
Meanwhile, the Publicity Secretary NAPE, Mr. Abdullateef Amodu further explained that NAPE would continue to collaborate with the media and other operators in the sector towards providing a platform for learning, nurturing best practices, evolving new solutions, industry advocacy and enhancing economic development
