How Ex-Customs CG, Dikko Died In Abuja

The immediate past Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Abdullahi Dikko, is dead.

It was learnt that the Katsina State indigene, who led the NCS from 2009 to 2015, died in a private hospital in Abuja after a protracted illness

A close associate of the deceased confirmed to Nigerianmaritime360.com that  the ex-Customs CG  has been sick for some time.

He however said Dikko will be buried according to the Islamic  rite on Friday, 19th February, 2021.

Recall that the former Customs boss had been facing a probe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as well as the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged financial impropriety.

His house said to be worth N1.1bn as well as cars worth hundreds of millions of naira were seized by the EFCC under the leadership of erstwhile Chairman, Ibrahim Magu.
He was said to have refunded amount running into billions of Naira into the government coffers.

However, his case could not proceed due to his failing health.

In December 2020, the ICPC and its Chairman, Prof Bolaji Owasanoye, were restrained from arresting and prosecuting Dikko.
