HeadlinesTransport 3-Day Third Mainland Bridge closure starts tomorrow By maritimemag January 29, 2021 ShareTweet 0 The Third Mainland Bridge will be closed to all traffic for three days beginning from tomorrow (Saturday) till Monday midnight. The state Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, in a statement on Thursday, said the closure is to enable the completion of repair works on the double-sized expansion joints. Oladeinde explained that the bridge repair work was being done to ensure that the set deadline for reopening the entire bridge was met. According to him, “Motorists from Ogudu, Alapere, and Gbagada are advised to use Ikorodu Road, Jibowu and Yaba as alternative routes, while Iyana Oworonsoki bound traffic from Lagos Island, Iddo, Oyingbo, Adekunle and Yaba are to use Herbert Macaulay Way, Jibowu and Ikorodu road as alternative routes”. The Commissioner added that the traffic management personnel would be deployed along the affected routes to minimise and address any traffic impediments during the closure. © 2021, maritimemag.
