NewsPorts Management Working with the People & Security Agencies avert hitches – NPA By maritimemag December 5, 2018 ShareTweet 0 THE Nigerian Ports Authority has said that always working with the people and security agencies avert hitches and had engendered successful port operations at the Onne Port. The Manager, Onne Ports, Alhaji Alhassan Abubakar, stated that such strategy had built mutual trust and confidence in the hearts of stakeholders, especially community leaders. Abubakar spoke during a media get-together organised by the Nigerian Ports Authority, Onne, as part of its end of year activities at its administrative building in Rivers State. He added that his mandate of providing security for businesses within the port had helped business owners to continue to meet their goal of maximising profits. He said, “There had been challenges in the course of my administration; there had been threats from community youths to block the port from operation, but we always work with the people, security agencies to avert hitches. “That is one thing that we do that is working for us and also giving the communities confidence that we are here to listen to them and to partake in their problems. “So, when they have issues, they rather inform us either by writing or by phone calls and we immediately consultant the parties involved and try to meet their demands.” Abubakar added that the management of NPA always tried to provide a safe environment within the ports for businesses to thrive. © 2018, maritimemag.
