HeadlinesNews Why the Inauguration of Tin Can 2 Chapter Executives of ANLCA is Delayed-Farinto By maritimemag November 21, 2018 ShareTweet 0 By ZION Olalekan Several weeks after the Tin Can 2 chapter election was conducted at the National Secretariat of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) the Vice President of ANLCA; Dr. Kayode Farinto has given reasons why the inauguration has not taken place. Farinto told our correspondent recently that due process was not followed in the conduct of the election. He however said that the National Executive Committee (NECOM) of the association has overlooked the perceived shortcomings. He also said that the National President of ANLCA, Tony Ujubonu has not been available due to his political ambition and that this has stalled the inauguration of the executives of the chapter. Farinto also said that the elected Chairman of the chapter, Femi Olabanji has not also been available, according to him, immediately after the election, Olabanji travelled to America and stayed one month, thereby delaying inauguration. Speaking, he said “The constitution empowers the President to inaugurate the elected executives, it is only the president that can inaugurate them and he would do that when he is available. “There is also an issue on the Lilypond election but we want to make it an in-house issue, the bylaws of ASECO, any license operating in Tin Can and wants to migrate to Lilypond, the NEC which is the highest decision making organ of the association has mandated it not to be less than one year to election period. “Some people that voted for Segun Oduntan (Tin Can chapter chairman) whose tenure has not expired were bundled and taken to Lilypond to vote. “Meanwhile, for you to vote, you must have been in the chapter for one year, but eventually, ASECO went ahead to conduct the election and nobody queried him, this is to let you know that NECOM is not controlling ASECO, if we were, we would have asked them not to conduct the election or issue a press release”. Farinto said that some persons were taking advantage of the crisis in the BOT of ANLCA to perpetuate their illegality. “Immediately after the elections, Femi Olabanji travelled to America and spent one month. In any organization, the board is supposed to have an advisory role, but here they want to take over the executive function, if they have been doing that under Shittu, I will not allow that” he said. © 2018, maritimemag.
