Customs & ExciseHeadlinesKudos & KnocksNewsPorts Management Knocks: What is the fate of idle officers of scrapped Lilypond command customs ? By maritimemag August 24, 2019 ShareTweet 0 Officers and men of the Tincan 2 command (Lilypond) of the Nigeria Customs Service are yet to be redeployed to other commands even as the terminal has been taken over by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), about three months ago. These officers are no doubt receiving salaries for work they did not do. Ghost workers is the best description for them. One begins to wonder the speed with which the Service was carrying out recruitment in recent time as if it is in dire need of additional hands meanwhile, the already recruited ones are idling away. Does it mean that the service does not need more hands and it is recruiting new Officers? A check shows that the Controller has been moved to another newly created command while the officers of the crapped command are idling away. Even some of them have travelled out of the town since they have nothing to do. © 2019, maritimemag. All rights reserved.
