Leadership of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Employers (NARTO) has refuted report that the truck park of the members at Tincan is not hygienic
Mohammed Inuwa, the Vice Chairman, Dry Cargo, Lagos state, who spoke with newsmen during the week, said that the association takes hygiene seriously.
He said that shop owners at the park are compelled to carry out daily cleaning in addition to every Thursday general cleaning of the park.
Speaking on behalf of Tin Can island Port chapter, the NARTO Chieftain also said that he could not debunk the existence of sex workers but maintained that such does not happen within the association’s park.
“NARTO is a reputable organisation, we cannot allow such where we have our investments, we have protocols guiding us here, even the people selling food here, we do call for hygiene
“In fact, there was a time health officers in Apapa Local Government sent some of them for orientation on how to maintains good hygiene.
“Despite the fact that we are in open place, we have toilets for drivers and we have where the drivers can take their bath.
“Within our park we don’t have such although we know some drivers anywhere you see them, you see women around them but we don’t have such here.
“There is a sanction for anyone who defaults in taking good care of the business environment because we have heads of the business people who monitor the development”.
