HeadlinesMaritime Security & Law Two Lagferry boats razed in Lagos By maritimemag January 6, 2022 ShareTweet 0 Segun Oladipupo Two LAGFERRY boats on Wednesday afternoon went up in flames at the Falomo jetty in Lagos as cause of inferno is yet unknown The fire incident was said to have occured from the tank of one of the boats which later affected the other boat No life was lost but two crew members,who were said to be involved in the accident, got minor injury and are now in the hospital after sustaining first degrees burns. Nkechi Ajayi, Public Relations Officer of LASWA in a statement, added that a combined team of Lagos State Waterways Authority, Lagos Fire Service, Marine Police, and LAGFERRY Staff were able to curtail the inferno and recover the boat’s remains. Full text of the statement; “A fire incident involving two Lagferry boats named Lateef Jakande, and Mobolaji Johnson occurred at about 2 pm on Wednesday 5th of January 2022. “Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire began from a fuel tank of one of the boats, which later affected the other. “Two crew members were involved in the accident and are now in the hospital after sustaining first degrees burns. “A combined team of Lagos State Waterways Authority, Lagos Fire Service, Marine Police, and Lagferry Staff were able to curtail the inferno and recover the boat’s remains.
