Truckers hail NPA over restoration of sanity to Lilypond Transit Park

Jubilant truckers at the NPA  transit park at Ijora have lauded the transparent posture of   the new Traffic Manager, Lagos Port Complex, Apapa, Mr. Victor Oginni whom they said has restored sanity to the park.

The truckers, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that prior to Oginni’s take over, it was hell for them due to extortion by men and officers of Task Force Team and also with the support of the Nigerian Police officers.
The truckers in an exclusive interview with our correspondent, said they were glad that since the Traffic Manager came on board, prudence and accountability had set in as he’s transparent with his dealings.
According to them; “first, on behalf of the majority of truckers, I say thank you very much Sir! As I am confirming to you that, as at June 12, 2020, we could now heave a sigh of relief as the Traffic Manager in the person of Mr. Oginni has stepped-up an action tagged: Transparency in  admitting  trucks into Transit Park / Port.
“Recalled that secrecy in the process was dominant in our complaints to you. We thank you for your intervention, which necessitated the good tidings”.
They said that members of the Task Force Team used to extort huge sums of money running in several hundreds of thousands from them before allowing their trucks into the park.
The truckers while  lauding Oginni’s effort, however, said that some few disgruntled elements amongst the Task Force Team are still benefiting from the old order with the assistance of men and officers of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF).
“We are equally bringing it to your notice that some few individuals who have been benefiting from the old rotten system are working with the support of some Police attached to Task Team to sabotage the new concept.
“Our fear is that if tomorrow Oginni leaves office, we don’t know who will be his replacement because of his truthfulness and fairness that he stood for.
“Therefore, as a matter of urgency, we humbly and passionately plead that you kindly effect change of the officers, so that the efforts of Port Manager and Traffic Manager would not be exercise in futility.
“Because their over familiarization would make it easier for them  to circumvent or sabotage the new system.
“Notwithstanding, we are committed to ensuring sanity and orderliness at all time,” the truckers said.
Meanwhile, the truckers expressed happiness that corrupt officials fingered in corrupt practice at the park have been shown the way out.
According to them; “kudos to the TM for disposing off the staffs that were fingered in the abuse of the system both in Lilypond and the Main Port gate respectively”.
They added that the disposed staff compromised with the task team to extort the truckers.
