The Olympic-sized swimming pool at Mid-Maritime

0
It is against trade facilitation and International Ships and Ports Security (ISPS) Code for a terminal to be flooded and impassable for visitors.

This was the sight in Mid-Maritime Services Bonded Terminal last week when our reporter visited.

The operating environment of the bonded terminal could easily pass for an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

The rain session has exposed the poor hygienic protocols of Mid-Maritime bonded facility.

The sight was nauseating and uncomplimentary. It shows the lackadaisical attitude of some operators to the environment where they make ends meet.

This also calls for questioning from the overseeing agency on why such a terminal should be in operations with such an environment posing threat to the health of visitors and staff alike.

This is wake up call to other terminals that have a similar issue to put things right as the country would not want to face any other health disaster now that Covid-19 is fizzling away gradually
