SIFAX Group has said it would soon open new routes in its ferry services due to pressure from passengers.

The Manager, Corporate Affairs of the conglomerate, Muyiwa Akande told newsmen in his office on Friday that the organisation might open new routes at Ikorodu to CMS but added that there were no concrete terms to the effect yet.

According to him, there are pressures on the organisation to provide more routes as well as acquire more fleets to execute their operations.

Presently, he noted that Mile 2 to Liverpool route was recently opened using Capital Oil facility as designated jetty.

He added that there were arrangements by the organisation with other corporate entities to ferry staff to and from work every day.

Citing instances of some of the corporate organisations in such arrangement with SIFAX, he said Nigerdock staffs are being ferried to and from work on daily basis.

“We discovered that we have a lot of pressure in terms of passengers traffic few months ago, we had to open another route that is, Mile 2 to Liverpool using Capital Oil jetty.

“Currently we do those two routes and we are actually stepping up to meet up in terms of passengers and we also have some corporate clients who engage us to ferry their staff to and fro every day.

“We have arrangement with Nigerdock to move their staff to and fro Mile 2 down to Apapa every day. We have been doing that for some time now.

“We also have some people calling us to come to other places like Ikorodu to CMS because we have a whole lot of people living at that axis and we are being called upon to come and we are looking at that option of extending it to CMS as well but we are taking it one step at a time.

“Our challenge is that we have passengers who want very good service but they want it at a cheaper rate. If you look at our ferries, they have all the conveniences,” he stated.
