News Sifax commences operations at Ebute- Ojo jetty By maritimemag May 21, 2018 ShareTweet 0 TAYO OLADIPUPU | There are strong indications that SIFAX group has commenced operations at it’s newly acquired Ebute-Ojo jetty as a ferry named SIFAX 4 was sighted at the Liverpool jetty with passengers on board The ferry which was painted in white and orange colours was seen anchored at Liverpool jetty with 25 passengers bound for Ebute-Ojo, on board on Friday afternoon.. Our correspondent also gathered that two ferries have been imported and deployed by the Sifax group to commence operations within the Ebute Ojo -Liverpool axis. SIFAX Group, a multinational corporation with diverse interests in Maritime, Aviation, Haulage & Logistics, Oil & Gas and Hospitality, was given a concession approval by the Lagos State Government to operate and maintain the Ebute-Ojo Ferry Terminal for a period of 10 years. According to sources, the ferries would be commissioned officially in June and full operations will commence immediately. However, passengers who spoke to our correspondent on the development maintained that water transportation in Lagos was expensive, calling on the conglomerate to reduce the fare as a tool to attract patronage from commuters. Patience Ebimobowie appealed to the concessionaire that the “Best way for the new ferry service owned by Sifax group to thrive is to ensure that the charges are lesser when compared to what other private boat operators collect as fee. She appealed to management of the concessionaire to consider the masses as most of the passengers that would patronise their services are basically low income earners who struggle to make ends meet. © 2018, maritimemag.
