News SIFAX BOUGHT 20 TRUCKS WORTH OVER N1 BILLION FOR HAULAGE By maritimemag May 25, 2018 ShareTweet 0 Abiodun Oba I The management of SIFAX Group has commissioned twenty newly acquired trucks for haulage operations to boost the transport business of the organisation. The twenty new trucks according to the management of the group are worth over N1 billion. The new acquisition takes the total number of the company’s trucks to seventy- five, having had fifty- five trucks in it’s kitty earlier. The group stated that the acquisition of the new trucks was a clear demonstration of the unfettered commitment of the management of Sifax Group to the strategic goal of repositioning its Haulage Logistics Limited for greater productivity. Speaking shortly after the commissioning of the Iveco branded trucks, General Manager Sifax Haulage Logistics, Mr. Adewale Aderibigbe stated that the acquisition could not have come at a better time as the company is currently experiencing various challenges in the discharge of its duties, especially that of inadequate equipment. According to him, the newly acquired trucks are estimated at a billion naira and had provided the company the opportunity to engage over fifty workers directly . He further urged all haulage drivers to use the newly purchased vehicles strictly for official purposes they were procured for, warning that for no reason should the vehicles be used for unofficial purposes. The GM noted that the best way to describe the feat is to “say it is a dream come true “adding that the commitment was part of the company-wide strategy of strengthening all the subsidiaries with the requisite capacity and capabilities to deliver on the corporate objective of delivering best value in all sectors we operate. ” The business is growing by the day as different discerning clients are signing deals with us due to the quality of our customer focused service consignment transfer and nationwide delivery executed by well motivated workforce. ” This phenomenal growth has put us under pressure and we are glad today that these new trucks will help in fulfilling our brand promise as we scale up our capacity to meet our clients’ needs. “As these new trucks join our fleet, our promise to all our clients and the management of the group is that there shall be positive impact of this investment in terms of increased revenue generation, reduction in service breakdown, increased turnaround time and a more satisfied clientele base. “I must say that we are not oblivious of the fact that the provision of these vehicles alone is not enough to create the desired institutional capacity to operate our planned programmes. “The subsidiary will therefore endeavour to further support with increased funding of genuine spare part importation, reward performance, invest more on state of the art workshop equipment and constant training of personnel for effective management of these assets. He said the trucks are brand new European trucks with 420 HP rating. 10 of them are ‘6 X 4’ double axles. He explained further that, management has equally invested heavily on procurement of 10 triaxle flatbeds with 48 tonnage capacity to compliment the pulling strength of the earlier mentioned trucks. “By implication, we are now positioned to compete favourably in this heavily competitive industry. ” In order to discourage arbitrary use of the vehicles for purposes other than the discharge of official duties, the vehicles have been installed with video tracking devices that will enable us monitor their movements centrally from the office and other remote devices. He warned, that, any driver that runs foul of the ethical use of the vehicles shall be disciplined in accordance with Sifax corporate policy. Earlier, the Group Managing Director , Mr. John Jenkins said despite the harsh economy, the company was poised to increase its logistics chain. © 2018, maritimemag. All rights reserved.
