Customs & ExciseHeadlinesNews Seme Customs hands over Canabis, suspects to NDLEA By maritimemag September 13, 2019 ShareTweet 0 Abiola Seun | The Seme Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has handed over parcels of Cannabis Sativa (Indian Hemp) and three suspects to National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA for further prosecution. The Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the Command, Mr. Saidu Nuruddeen, made this known yesterday. He explained that the Deputy Comptroller of Enforcement, Seme Command, DC Rasheed Adahunse, handed over the hard drugs and three suspects to NDLEA, on behalf of the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Mohammed Uba. During the handing over, DC Adahunse said, “Seme Command will continue to partner NDLEA in the battle against drugs peddlers sabotaging the health and well-being of our Nation”. He went on, “The suspects, Mr Godwin Edet, Azeez Ogungalobu and Chidume Kingsley were arrested at Gbaji checkpoint during Routine Stop and Search operation, eight parcels of Cannabis Sativa were found on them”. In his remarks, the O/C of NDLEA at Seme, Mr Udotong Essien commended Comptroller Uba and his team for partnering with the Agency to tackle drugs smuggling at the border post. He enthused, “Seme Customs has done a lot in the fight against drugs smuggling. We appreciate the synergy and harp on the benefits derived from the cordial inter-agency relationship that has aided both Agencies. “We promise to continue giving feedback on the progress made towards the prosecution of suspects”.
