The call which cost the fearless Sanusi Lamido Sanusi his job as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as he alleged, has been repeated.

Delivering his address at the Bank Directors Summit at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, the former CBN Governor demanded that a proper audit of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) be carried out and kicked against the president playing the role of a petroleum minister in Nigeria.

Sanusi noted that this call was what cost him his job as the CBN governor, a position he held from June 2009 to February 2014.

“The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) and the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) must remain until banks get together and pay up what they owe the system,” Sanusi said.

According to the former Apex Bank boss, the banking sector must shore up its trust deficit in the eyes of Nigerians.

Sanusi also pointed out that there would be no need whatsoever to amend the CBN Act in a bid to keep the apex bank free of political influences.
