Russia/Ukraine: Body announces palliatives for affected seafarers.

The Seafarers International Relief (SIR) Fund has announced an undisclosed sum of relief fund for seafarers affected by the crisis in Ukraine

International Seafarers Welfare & Assistance  Network (ISWAN) has been named as the body to manage the funds.

SIRFund also called on Maritime and shipping industry to contribute to  the fund as more seafarers were intended to be reached.

The fund, according to the agency, is meant for seafarers and their families.

“The devastation in Ukraine is ripping seafarers & their families apart. SIRFund is now supporting those impacted by the crisis in Ukraine.

“We urgently call on the maritime & shipping industry to contribute to the Fund.

“This new fund is for #seafarers and their families of all nationalities who are impacted by the crisis in #Ukraine and need urgent financial help

“This is also the first grant SIRFund has awarded in response to the Ukraine crisis. More support for seafarers is planned.

“The Ukraine Crisis Support Fund (managed by ISWAN on behalf of (SIRFund) is now available to provide urgent financial support to seafarers and their families affected by the Ukraine crisis.”
