By maritimemag May 19, 2019 ShareTweet 0 With the increasing rate and spate of insecurity in Nigeria, drastic efforts are required to quickly nip it in the bud before it snowballs into a menace too big to handle. To achieve this, both private and public institutions and individuals are required to come out of their cocoon to make a veritable input. This is exactly why Perceival Security and Safety Agency (PSSA) has deemed it necessary to facilitate the import of the technology and necessary training to curb the menace in Nigeria. The commissioning of its collaboration with China Security Technology Group (CSTG) in Abuja on Thursday is one of the rare moves by private initiatives to bring insecurity to its knee in the country. This laudable landmark and deft step, if supported by the government, would restore sanity and peace into our security architecture to a large extent because the Chinese partners are not only providing trainings but gadgets and technologically advanced security projects that will track, curtail and prevent crimes even before they are committed.Long before now, Kidnapping, insurgency, were not common occurrences in Nigeria. They were foreign to Nigeria. Nobody ever thought it could ever enter the country let alone living with us.Today, the once alien crimes are taking place in Nigeria and in fact, it has become sources of livelihood for some persons. This singular fact makes it difficult to be fought to a standstill because the crime perpetrators have evolved with time using modern technologies to beat the law officers. For this reason, modern technologies more sophisticated than the ones used by the perpetrators are needed urgently to quell the present fire and the likely futuristic projections of the perpetrators. As a result, Nigeria and Nigerians are expected to think outside the box to curb the global menace. It is predominant in the northern part of the country today, it may spread to other parts of the country. As a way of finding a lasting solution to the mindless killings and eradication of the malady, Percival Security and Safety Agency (PSSA) in its innovative sensibility has decided to partner with China Security Technology Group (CSTG) to provide both technological and educational tools to mitigate the menace in Nigeria. Prince Biodun Soyele, during the commissioning of the collaboration in Abuja said that the initiative was apt and coming at the right time because criminals now deploy technological tools hence the need to get ahead of the criminals to put them away from business. He mentioned the fact that government may not be able to provide all the funds needed to forestall security in the country but asked that individuals should join hands together with them to secure lives and property. The partnership of PSSA and CSTG is not meant to provide the usual security trainings but also to provide technologies and gadgets that can beat all the modern day strategies that may be adopted by the criminals. “Without technology, there is little we can do because the criminals today use technology to outsmart the relevant security agents. So, at the disposal of the government, the resources are limited. Hence we partner a technologically inclined security experts like CSTG to restore order to our security system” “Today, we have such technology as missiles, and things that can predict the movement of enemies or criminals. With the backing of our security operatives, we can say we are good to go. “We need this kind of technology because the era of using batons is outdated. We need other things that can assist to make the enemy or criminal know that the person guarding a particular place is well equipped. “The people we are collaborating with are experts in marine security and with them coming in, the nation is better for it.Also realising the importance of the giant stride, Unilever Nigeria PLC has also thrown its massive weight behind the feat for success and succession.Represented by Desmond Adeola, Unilever Head of Brand Protection in Africa, the multi national firm said, “We know that security is a big issue and for people to think of solution, that is what we really need. The people bringing the solution deserves our commendation and delight.“I am from a sector where illicit or counterfeiting is causing a major problem. Once which is global estimated that 2 to 3 percent of global trade are actually lost to counterfeits and we also know by research as well over 20 percent of counterfeit goods come from Asia particularly China. “It is instrumental to know that the very place where counterfeit products come from is making efforts to develop a vision towards stopping the illicit and counterfeited products. The solution is coming from that same area to show the commitment of Chinese government and people towards providing a solution to the problem. He then called on all stakeholders to patronize the Security initiative of PSSA saying that the long-awaited solutions to illicit and counterfeited goods is here. ” Henceforth, we should begin to rally round the vision to make sure that it is sustainable. “With this collaboration, I know that we are getting close to getting solutions to these problems. We will be inviting PSSA to take it from here and attend our gathering where our members will also get to know and pull resources together to assist PSSA in the area of anti-counterfeiting © 2019, maritimemag.
