Police dismisses vehicles auction with Customs as fake, mischievous

The Nigeria Police has dismissed Facebook post that the Inspector General, Abubakar Adamu, was involved with the Nigeria Customs Service in the public auction of seized vehicles nationwide.

In a statement by DCP Frank Mba, Force Public Relations Officer, on Wednesday, he disclosed that the police boss has no personal Facebook account, urging Nigerians to disregard the post .

According to him, the publication is not just fake but also mischievous and aimed at defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

Mba assured the public that the fraudster and impostor will soon be arrested and made to face the rigour of the law.

The statement reads, “The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to a Facebook Page with Account name “Abubakar Adamu Mohammed” and a post claiming that the Nigeria Police Force in collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service are auctioning impounded vehicles to interested members of the public.

“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to state that the bearer is not the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, NPM, mni. It is also worthy to state that the Inspector General of Police does not have a personal Facebook account and the “ACP MIKE UZUOMAH” mentioned in the post is not a Police Officer and such name does not exist in Nigeria Police Force database.

“Members of the public are advised to disregard this publication for it is not just fake but also mischievous and aimed at defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

“We want to assure the public that this fraudster and impostor will soon be arrested and made to face the rigour of the law,” he added.

The fake Facebook account displayed has vehicles for sale with price tags.
