The little girl, who was one of the two children carried by their mother, Lovina Isegu, for the journey, met her untimely death when the attackers shot at the boat. The State Chairman of the Maritime Workers Union (MWUN), Ogoniba Ipigansi, while confirming the incident in a statement obtained by newsmen in Yenagoa, said the boat driver, Okilo Orubiko, was also shot by the attackers. Ipigansi, who said the boat driver had been taken to Yenagoa for treatment, called on the Federal Government and Bayelsa State Government to tackle insecurity on the waterways. © 2021, maritimemag.
