CoverHeadlines Perceival Agency partners Chinese firm to curb insecurity in Nigeria By maritimemag May 18, 2019 ShareTweet 0 Tayo Oladipupo | In the face of lingering insecurity in Nigeria, an indigenous security solution provider, the Perceival Security and Safety Agency has partnered a Chinese security giant, China Security Technology Group (CSTG) to help bolster government’s efforts at nipping the hydra-headed monster in the bud. The collaboration which birthed in Abuja at an elaborate launch ceremony on Thursday is a private initiative at providing latest technology to quell the evolving criminality in the country. Speaking at the event, the Group Managing Director of PSSA, Prince Biodun Soyele said because the criminals are devising means to beat security agent, it has become necessary to rise to the occasion to counter such moves in order to ensure lasting peace in the country. “Without technology, there is little we can do because the criminals today use technology to outsmart the relevant security agents. So, at the disposal of the government, the resources are limited. Hence we feel that collaborating with foreign partner like CSTG that is high in technology is step in the right direction if everything is going to be better. “Today, we have such technology as missiles, and things that can predict the movement of enemies or criminals. With this backing of our security operatives, we can say we are good to go. “We need this kind of technology because the era of using batons is outdated. We need other things that can assist to make the enemy or criminal know that the person guarding a particular place is well equipped. “The people we are collaborating with are experts in marine security and with them coming in, the nation is better for it. On combating crime at sea, Soyele maintained that the employment of modern equipment would help to decimate pirates and sea robbers, saying it will help to minimize the water crime. “With the use of these modern equipment, the issue of piracy, sea robbery on Nigerian territorial waters will be drastically minimised if not eradicated. “However, the issue of insecurity on Waterways will be a thing of the past with gradual implementation of the technologies we are bringing into Nigeria with this collaboration with CSTG” he declared. The Chairman of CSTG, Tan Feng told nigeriamaritime360.com that the company will provide necessary technical equipment and technical energy for all Nigerian security forces. Feng said, “We are trying to study Nigeria and see what we can do for them to secure and we also have to network with the police, army to see how CSTG can provide technical equipment and technical energy for all Nigerians security forces. “Perceival has a great security level in Nigeria and fantastic relationships with government, security forces as well as the army so they can provide the manpower for us and some project resources and corporate people on the field. “We can provide some security training and security facilities to all our partners. “It will afford us to provide more opportunities for the local people through provision of projects and other project constructions. We also hope to provide advanced technology to the police and army and how to use those technologies to implement the security system,” he stated. The collaboration between Perceival Security and Safety Agency and the Chinese company was unveiled to the public at a grant ceremony held in Abuja. The ceremony was attended by security agencies such as Nigeria Police, Navy, Air Force, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), government functionaries and other stakeholders in the security industry. © 2019, maritimemag.
