HeadlinesMaritime BusinessPorts Management Onne port comes alive with heavy vessel traffic By maritimemag April 8, 2019 ShareTweet 0 Abiola Seun Service providers at Onne port such as Maersk, Intels and Red Transport are struggling to cope with traffic surge at the port due to scores of vessels that called at the port last week. They are providing 24 hours logistic support for eight vessels out of the 13 vessels which have arrived in the port since the 3rd of April, 2019. This is according to a shipping position issued by Onne port. Drilling equipment topped the list of the cargoes that are being discharged by these agents from these vessels. The drilling equipment were shipped into the port on seven vessels; Intels is handling six of them. They are MV DSV Vinnice, MV Jones Tide, MV Jascon 69, MV Bourbon Hestia, MV MDPL Randeep, MV Bourbon Tide, MV Bourbon Liberty 217. The remaining one – MV Niger Star 7 Adaba – is handled by Red Transport. The only container vessel – MV Safmarine Chachai – is expectedly being handled by Maersk. The good news is that Onne port is also expecting another 16 vessels between April 3 and April 11, 2019. Some of the vessels have since arrived. The following shipping companies – GAC Ship, Interserve, Maersk, Intership, Fountain, Super Maritime, Vicven, PIL, WAPS and Gromzia – have been listed to provide logistic support for them.
