HeadlinesPorts Management Ondo to establish deep seaport soon By maritimemag August 6, 2021 ShareTweet 0 Ondo State governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu on Thursday stated that the state has started the process of establishing a deep seaport in Ilaje Local Government Area of the state. Akeredolu stated this at Mission To Seafarers (MTS) 2021 Symposium that held in Lagos. The theme of the symposium is tagged: Maritime Industry And Development Of Nigeria – Connecting With Our Heritage The Governor, who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, said that the sea in the state had natural depth that did not require dredging. He added that state government is leaving no stone unturned in achieving the feat within a short period of time. “The governmemt is trying to put up Port Ondo, a deep seaport. “A lot of investments will come up, our waters do not need dredging. Very soon, we will add our own port to Apapa and Tincan ports. “The Governor is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that the port in Ilaje Local Government Area is established. “It will promote business in Nigeria and West Africa as a whole,” he stated. He however allayed the fear of maritime stakeholders that the waterways in Ondo state was free from piracy, robbery or any form of attack © 2021, maritimemag. All rights reserved.
