HeadlinesMaritime Security NIWA MD: Square peg in round hole By maritimemag October 5, 2019 ShareTweet 0 The Federal Government has appointed a substantive Managing Director for the National Inland waterways Authority(NIWA) in the person of George Moghalu. Moghalu before his appointment, was the National Treasurer of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Recall that Moghalu is coming in after the immediate past MD, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora was made a minister by the President. Danladi Ibrahim, became the acting MD for the third time after Mamora left for his new position. Nigeriamaritime360360 knocks the federal ministry of Transportation for choosing a green horn as the head of such critical agency. This simply means that Moughalu will start learning the rope all over again as there is no known record of his exploit in maritime industry before his appointment. Until government stops playing politics with appointments and starts putting round peg in round hole, the progress of Nigerian economy will continue to be a mirage. Why not select among the experienced professionals who have been working with the organisation over time because of their wealth of experience and knowledge of the terrain? Enough of using critical appointments as political patronage © 2019, maritimemag. All rights reserved.
