The President General of the Union, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju told journalists in Lagos on Wednesday that the union has lost focus of the drive of the Committee. ”We are part of them in the sense that we are only looking for solutions to the gridlock but don’t be surprised that anytime from now, we will pull out from them. ”There is a difference between unionism and association. Association will always look for their interests while the union is for welfarism. ”The way i am seeing things now, there is no sincerity among the COMTUA members, some of them still believe in the old ways of unionism. ”You cannot compare unionism with association because they are employers, they are business men. ”If there is sincerity of purpose, for more than a year now, the road wouldn’t have still remained as it is now. ”The same COMTUA wrote a petition again the Navy and the government brought in presidential task force and they are the ones still undermining the efforts of the task force. ”COMTUA members are business men, how can someone use me to achieve their purpose?” Adeyanju declared © 2019, maritimemag.
