CoverCustoms & ExciseNews MMA Customs intercepts 180 cartons of Tramadol worth $181,000 By maritimemag May 18, 2018 ShareTweet 0 Funso Olojo | The Murtala Mohammed Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted 180 cartons of banned Tramadol capsules with the market value of $181,000. According to Euphraim Joseph Haruna, the Public Relations Officer of the command, the banned items were intercepted by the eagled-eyed officers of the command at SAHCOL shed on Tuesday before they were handed over to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control(NAFDAC) this Thursday. While handling over the banned drugs to NAFDAC, the Area Controller of the command, Mrs Jaine Shoboiki, lauded the officers for their commitment and dedication to duty but warned those who are trading in the banned drugs and other contraband goods to steer clear of the command as there would be no escape route for them. Receiving the consignment, Deputy Director of NAFDAC in MMA Command, Udoekpo Ekpo, thanked the MMA command and Mrs Shoboiki for their cooperation and collaboration in the area of intelligence gathering and promised that the agency will conduct further investigations on the seizure. It would be recalled that a similar seizure of banned item was made at the Tin Can Command of the Nigeria Customs Service last week. The Customs authority had earlier placed all its commands and border posts on red alert following the Federal Government ban on Tramadol capsules and Codeine syrup from coming into the country. © 2018, maritimemag.
