Customs & ExciseHeadlines MMA Customs breaks revenue records By maritimemag January 16, 2019 ShareTweet 0 — collects N3 billion in 10 days, N50 billion in 2018 The Murtala Muhammed Airport Command of the Nigeria Customs Service began the year on a blistering form when it garnered a whopping sum of N3 billion within the first 10 days of the year. The feat was unprecedented in the history of the command. In the same vein, the command raked in the sum of N50 billion in 2018 which surpassed that of 2017 with N2.057 billion. According to the press statement signed and made available to our correspondent by Euphraim Joseph Haruna, the spokesman of the command , the feat was made possible through the purposeful leadership of the Area Controller, Mrs Jayne Shoboiki and the doggedness and commitment of the officers of the command. In 2018, the Command also recorded significant number of detentions and Seizures from import and export of prohibited Items with Duty Paid Value (DPV) of One Billion, Sixty Eight Million, Forty Three thousand, One Hundred and Sixty One Naira (1,068,043,161). Seizures were also made of military hardware without End User Certificates (EUC) imported into the Country, and prohibited Items to be exported out of the country. The intercepted military hardware include 10 sets of Military camouflage Uniforms,63 Cartons of Bullet Proof Jackets, 30Cartons of Military Helmet, 24 Pieces of Military Face Caps,10 Sets of Military vest of different Camouflage colors. Others are One Air Gun imported with two different End User Certificates, 20 Pieces of assorted OPTICAL SIGHT wrapped in a Military camouflage uniform bags, mainly for rifles and Grenade launcher, Five cartons of Military knee/shin guards, 138 Cartons Containing Handcuffs,133 packages Containing Police Official Cardigans, 710 pieces of Military Headgears. Cartons of Drones are intercepted almost on daily basis, 108 Cartons of expired 2009 Beef imported into the Country from South Africa, 51sacks of Pangolin Scales handed over to NESREA, 191Cartons of Tramadol Tablets with no NAFDAC Number to be exported out of the Country but handed over to NAFDAC Eight bags of sixty four 64 Packs containing Elephants Tusk were handed over to NESREA, 99 sacks of unprocessed Donkey’s Skin handed over to Quarantine. The command has this year intercepted and detained two packages of Military camouflage Uniforms imported without End User Certificates (EUC),Desert camouflage combat shorts 43 pcs ,complete set jackets 13 pcs, complete set of camouflage combats uniforms 20 pc, 38 pieces camouflage polo shirts. Others include 17 pieces of camouflage inner vest,150 pieces of camouflage peak caps, 59 cartons of Tramadol Tablets intercepted and detained. 51 cartons of Drones were also intercepted and detained until the production of End User Certificates (EUC) are produced. © 2019, maritimemag.
