The command also said the generated revenue is for third quarter of year 2020. The Command further noted that this has made total revenue garnered to about N5 billion. The Command had projected N8 billion target by the end of the year. The Public Relations Officer for the Area Command, Mr. Chado Zakari, said that some factors such as policy direction and the Covid-19 pandemic worked against making huge revenue. He also noted in a statement that the Command in the period under review generated showed 33.77 per cent of the 3rd quarter. Zakari pointed out that a comparative review of 2019, showed that the area command raked in N698,791,041.50. He maintained that the latest report, according to him, represents 62.9 per cent of the annual target with a differential of over N2 billion from the record of the previous year. The statement hinted further that the 2020 revenue target for the Command is put at N8,038,000,000.00 and so far, has generated N5, 058,906,272.17 between January to September, 2020 . “In April alone, the Command could not generate or collect any excise duties due to lockdown. “It’s worthy to mention here that since the creation of the Command, July last year, under the watch of Comptroller HB Ahmed, the Command has so far generated N7,463,224,314.65 and remitted same to federation account,” he said. © 2020, maritimemag.
