HeadlinesKudos or Knocks Kudos to Effedua over transformation of MAN, Oron. By maritimemag September 12, 2021 ShareTweet 0 Thumb up for the present management and staff of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron led by the Rector for the recent acquisition and deployment of modern gadgets and infrastructure for the use of the students. Effedua has done tremendously well by giving the pioneer maritime institution a treatment that was a departure from what obtained before. After all, previous rectors and management staff had budgets but not much was achieved as to justify the huge resources at their disposal. Stakeholders, especially marine engineers and ship captains are beginning to laud Effedua for this massive achievement. However, the federal government should complement these efforts by providing dedicated vessels for the students for their sea time training. Or better still, the two Customs vessels; Group of Nine and Customs Pride should be deployed to the school. Also, the multi billion naira floating dock acquired by NIMASA gulping millions of naira daily without attendant income should be given to the students to avoid training them without empowerment. Of what profit will all the new gadgets and infrastructure be if there is no sea time training for practical experience which is the core of the training of seafarers? These moves, no doubt speak volumes of the efforts and genuine intention of Effedua for the development of the college and the country at large. © 2021, maritimemag. All rights reserved.
