CoverKudos & Knocks Kudos: Heroic feat of NIMASA, NPA By maritimemag August 17, 2019 ShareTweet 0 nigeriamaritime360.com thumbs up NIMASA, NPA and other relevant agencies that rescued the crew of the vessel that caught fire at Lagos anchorage recently. The swiftness of response to the distress call gives hope that government agencies in the maritime sector can actually achieve a feat if they put away politics. No life was reportedly lost in the fire incident as all hands were on deck to see stave off any possible fatality. The incident involving the vessel Sea Voyager occurred at the Lagos anchorage on August 15, according to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA). As informed, the Regional Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (RMRCC) at Kirikiri mobilized firefighters from other agencies including the NPA to put out the fire. A NIMASA fast intervention vessel was also on standby for emergency evacuation. The fire was soon brought under control, with all the crew successfully rescued. We laud the synergy between the two government maritime agencies which eventually saved precious lives. We encourage such synergy among other agencies of government in the sector for better maritime industry. © 2019, maritimemag. All rights reserved.
