NewsOil & Gas Kano: 11 filling stations sealed for under-dispensing products By maritimemag October 20, 2018 ShareTweet 0 11 filling stations in Kano were on Friday sealed for under-dispensing products by the Weight and Measures Department of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment. The department’s Assistant Director, Mr Ibrahim Isa said this shortly after sealing up the filling stations. He said that 10 of the stations were sealed for improper dispensation of Petroleum products, while one was sealed for failure to upgrade registration. Isa said that the Department had also monitored eight other business premises and certified their Weights and Measures system. The assistant director noted that it was part of the department’s mandate to ensure that customers got value for their money. According to him, the department embarks on random monitoring of petrol stations and other businesses within its jurisdiction to ensure that business owners are complying with the Weights and Measures requirements. He urged residents and consumers to always contact the department for any suspicious transactions. Isa advised business owners to contact the Department for guidelines and verification, as ignorance of the law was not an excuse.
