IG charges Special Constables “Be Patriotic, Promote Security and Safety”

—-As Akeredolu commissions NP Zone 17 Akure Office Complex

The Inspector General of Police (I-G), Mr Mohammed Adamu  has charged newly passed out Special Constables to promote security and safety in their communities.

The IG gave the charge at the Police Training School (PTS), Oyin , Akoko West , Ondo State on Tuesday.

 

The IG speaking through his representative and the outgoing AIG Zone 17, Akure, Deputy Inspector General of Police David Folawiyo, pac(+), mni, said the Police is gaining extensive uniformed presence by the program and assured them of continual training and retraining prospects.

By this, two hundred and fifty-six additional men are said to have been added to Ekiti State Command strength, for community policing purposes.

The ceremony was attended by the Oloyin of Oyin HRM Oba Lawrence Bamisile, the Chairman Akoko West LGA Elder Akande as well as PCRC representatives from Ekiti among others.

In a related development, the Nigeria Police Zone 17 Command Office complex  Akure, has been commissioned yesterday.

His Excellency Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu performed the colourful ceremony.

 

The Governor was full of joy for the synergy between the security agencies in the state, including the newly created Amotekun state security network.

 

He said the Amotekun project is out to compliment the security agencies and not to compete with them.

 

The governor who commended the completion of the office complex in record time under the outgoing AIG Folawiyo now promoted DIG, expressed his joy for eliminating the rigour of citizens travelling to Oshogbo Zone 11 where the states originally belonged.

Governor Akeredolu was also thankful that the Zonal headquarters is in Akure, which could also be somewhere else in Ekiti.

 

The colourful ceremony was attended by members of the state executive council and the Police Command officers and men, among others.
