HeadlinesNewsPorts Management I remain Apapa chapter chairman, Onyeka boasts By maritimemag February 13, 2020 ShareTweet 0 Segun Oladipupo Apapa chapter chairman of the Association’s of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Chief Dom Onyeka has dismissed claims that no election was conducted into the chairmanship position of the Western zone of the association. Onyeka told journalists in his office on Tuesday that December 2019 elections that brought him to office followed due process. Onyeka was reacting to the position of Barrister Raymond Onyimba who had in a statement on Tuesday, alerted members of the association that his Association’s Electoral Commission led by him was yet to conduct election into the Western zone of the association. According to Onyimba, the elections were suspended due to security reasons even as he maintained that new date and venue would be communicated to the members of the association after consultation with stakeholders. Following the statement, Onyeka who was among the elected chapter chairmen in the December elections retorted saying he remains the bonafide chairman of the chapter. He added that Onyimba had been suspended by the Board of Trustees of the association hence he has been stripped off the power to conduct elections in the association. Onyeka said the elections were conducted with contestants vying for the positions who were afterwards issued with certificates of return. The Chairman stated that an election with five Board of Trustee members in attendance cannot be discredited. “As far as am concern Raymond was suspended as ASECO chairman and he is not the chairman of ASECO at the moment. “The five members of the BOT that conducted the elections of the western zones are the same people who conducted the NECOM election. He noted that:” The truth is that there is discord in the association because after the election of Enugu where the President was elected, there was a kind of discord among members. “There was lack of harmony among the two groups that contested that elections which resulted to breakdown of communication. “Those appointed cannot rub shoulder with me because I was duly elected.” © 2020, maritimemag.
