My name is Hajia Bola Muse, the Chief Executive Officer of Bomarah Group of Companies. Where are you from? I am from Pho town, I am a princess but I am married to a Lagosian. How did you get into the freight forwarding profession? It is a big story. I always like to venture into places where people think there is no way, I love challenges. The love for challenges motivated me to go into the freight forwarding profession. My coming into the profession was by accident and at the same time, not by accident but I just wanted to do something different from what others are doing. During our time, women were known for doing buying and selling but I had no passion for that, I didn’t see myself in that area of business. All of us cannot be in the market or shop buying and selling. How long have you been around? I have been in the profession for twenty-five years. How rich are you? No response. What’s your favourite colour? I love white and blue colours. They symbolize peace and happiness. I love peace a lot and I love being happy. What sports are you into? I play lawn tennis What’s your favourite food? I like rice. I like it maybe it is the common food for poor people. I love it in any form. How do you cope with being a woman in the midst of plenty men? In fact, I am enjoying it because being in their midst has boosted my image and my home. I apply some of the things I learned from members of my association and other colleagues at home. How do you escape from the grip of men that may want to take opportunity of you being in their midst? If you know me very well, you will know that all the men in my field are my brothers. By the time I keep calling them my brother, they will have no choice than to let me be. It is the nature of men but you need to use your wisdom to know how to relate with everybody. What message will I be sending to my daughters and other younger ones if I have to be sleeping around with my colleagues or men? My first daughter is 26 years old and my second daughter is 25, I need to behave myself, respect myself in anything I do. How religious are you? I believe in almighty Allah and I am religious on my mind. I pray my five Rakat and I have the fear of God in my mind To what extent can you go for GOD? You can’t go any extent for GOD. In fact, if you go too far for GOD, you are in trouble. The only way you can try your best is by helping the needy. How do you relax? I relax a lot. I work from Monday to Friday but I don’t do business on Saturdays and Sundays. Even when I am at home in the evening, I don’t do business. I party a lot with my friends and I travel for holidays with my family. © 2020, maritimemag. All rights reserved.
