HeadlinesPorts Management How former NPA workers president, Leke Sanni, died By maritimemag June 28, 2021 ShareTweet 0 Segun Oladipupo The immediate past President of NPA branch of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Mr Leke Sanni, was confirmed dead on Sunday afternoon. The labour leader was said to have slumped after withdrawing cash from an ATM machine on his way to his house after church service in Lagos. Sanni was until his death, the Special Adviser (SA) on Labour Matters to the President General of MWUN, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju. He served two terms of four years each as the NPA branch President of MWUN between 2009 and 2017. When contacted, Adeyanju who confirmed the unfortunate incident, described the deceased as a noble and great unionist. The MWUN boss said the late unionist leader was with him on Thursday planning the election of the Seamen, NIWA branch slated to hold soon. He said, “That is how we see it. The union will miss the great unionist, maritime singer, a good friend and brother. He further described the late unionist as “A man close to my heart, he supported me during the election and was always there for me. He added, “He sent a message to me in Saturday when it was raining but I asked him to rest at home. “We all will surely die one day but the death of my very good brother and friend is painful indeed.” Asked if he had any history of ailment, he said he was not aware of any.
