HeadlinesNews Flood: NEMA Appeals To Residents Living Along Water Channels to Relocate By maritimemag August 28, 2018 ShareTweet 0 The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has appealed to those living along river banks and water channels to relocate from such areas for their safety. The agency made the appeal on Sunday during an assessment of communities affected by flood in Kaduna. Director in charge of Search and Rescue, Air Commodore Akugbe Iyamu said the appeal became necessary in order to prevent a reoccurrence of the flood. His comments came after several houses were ravaged by flood in the state last Friday, forcing residents to leave their homes. The Air Commodore hinted that the flood had been predicted by the Nigerian Metrological Agency which led to an early warning by NEMA. Since 2013, Kaduna state has always witnessed heavy flood during the rainy season. © 2018, maritimemag. All rights reserved.
