HeadlinesNews Five Star to stop weekend service over poor response from agents By maritimemag September 13, 2018 ShareTweet 0 Tayo Oladipupo | As a result of poor responses by clearing agents and their principals to its weekend services, Five Star Logistics, operators of terminal D at the Lagos port has vowed to discontinue the service. The weekend service was aimed at reducing the stress of clearing agents and importers to clear their consignments from the port and at good time too. The General Manager of the terminal, Wolfgang Schneider, said the introduction of weekend service was informed by the chaotic traffic situation in Apapa which is affecting smooth port operations prompting the management’s decision to introduce the service. Schneider expressed disappointment that importers and their agents failed to respond positively to the service. To this end, the operator may have to stop the weekend service, adding that the service is open to both owners of general cargoes as well as vehicles. He said, “We introduced the Sunday offer for deliveries of Customs cleared imported containers at our terminal, commencing July between 9am to 7pm,” Schneider stated. He stated further that unless there is improvement in the number of importers and their agents who take opportunity of the offer, the company may stop the service. © 2018, maritimemag.
