Five Govs, Three Ministers Set to Attend Shippers’ Council Night of Appreciation

Five state governors comprising Mr. Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi, Abiola Ajumobi of Oyo State, Simon Lalong of Plateau, and Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State are scheduled to grace the 2018 edition of stakeholders appreciation night organised by the Nigerian Shippers Council, Nigeria’s economic regulator for the seaport industry.

Also expected to be in attendance are Ministers of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, his Information counterpart, Lai Mohammed and that of Finance, Zainab Ahmed and Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, Boss Mustafa,

The annual stakeholders’ night, which marks the third in the series this year, is a special day, where the council meets with stakeholders to unwind and to appreciate them for their support and cooperation for the outgoing year and further seek their collaboration for the coming year in the overall interest of not only the shipping industry but also Nigeria’s economy as a whole.

Executive Secretary/CEO of the council, Mr. Hassan Bello, while commenting on this year’s event, noted that it would be different from the others given that no fewer than five governors and three ministers are being expected at the event.

The event, which comes December 6 at Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos at 5pm, is expected to be chaired by the President, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria MAN, Engr. Mansur Ahmed.

According to the council, the annual event is aimed at reviewing activities during the year and initiate actions needed to move the industry forward in the coming year.

It was gathered that stakeholders that distinguished themselves in their daily operations within the year would be recognised and applauded to encourage them to do more in moving the industry forward.

According to the council, while the SGF is expected to be Special Guest of Honour, the Minister of Transport would be the Host.

The one-day event would have in attendance various stakeholders at the  ports, including trade groups, shipping companies, seaports/off dock terminal operators, freight forwarders, shippers, cargo consolidators, Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers, members of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group, among others.
