The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced August 29th, 2020 for the resumption of international flights from the country’s airports.

The Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika disclosed this during a briefing on Monday even as he also hinted that four flights will begin landing daily in Lagos and four in Abuja.

Recall the airports in the country were shut down since March 23, 2020 to all but essential international flights as part of Nigeria’s effort to curtail the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Protocols and procedures will be announced in due course,” he said.

The Minister said that the four flights would begin landing daily in Lagos and four in Abuja.

Sirika, however, added that there hasn’t been any confirmed Covid-19 pandemic transmissions on flights so far.

He maintained that passengers on international flights will need to provide a negative Covid-19 test before boarding as well as pay for another test after they arrive in Nigeria.

He further noted the passengers will also be required to fill in an online health questionnaire and present it to authorities when they land.

While stating they could “gradually” stop keeping passengers’ passports, posited that those currently returning to the country aboard repatriation flights are required to self-quarantine for 14 days, and authorities retain passports for that period.
