Katsina Police Commissioner, Muhammed Wakili, who confirmed Salisu’s arrest on Friday at a press briefing where suspects of various crimes were also paraded, disclosed that found on the boy were 182 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, 176 Exol-5 tablets, 16 sachets of Diazepam tablets, 15 tablets of Tramadol and 395 tablets of D5. The police boss said Salisu’s arrest followed a tip-off, adding that he had already confessed to committing the crime. Wakili said, “On 28/11/2018 at about 11:30hrs, based on a tip-off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Shamsudin Salisu, ‘m’, Aged 25 years of Maigamji village, Funtua LGA of Katsina State in possession of 182 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, 176 Exol-5 tablets, 16 sachets of Diazepam tablets, 15 tablets of Tramadol and 395 tablets of D5. The suspect confessed to the crime. Investigation is ongoing.” Katsina Police Commissioner appealed for the cooperation of people in the current efforts at checking the menace of drugs in Nigeria. He maintained that if people could cooperate with the police and reveal the identities of those bringing the drugs for distribution and sales, drug consumption would be greatly reduced. © 2018, maritimemag.
