HeadlinesOil & Gas DPR confirms Oando depot fire containment By maritimemag November 8, 2020 ShareTweet 0 Chinazor Megbolu The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has confirmed the containment of the Thursday’s fire incident at OVH Energy tank farm at Marine Beach, Ijora area of Lagos State. The oil and gas industry regulator on Saturday said the situation has been brought under control. The Head, Public Affairs, DPR, Mr. Paul Osu, confirming the development in a statement, said the fire was put out at about 7:55 a.m on Saturday by a combined team of fire fighters. He explained that from the agency’s preliminary report, all safety control measures to contain the fire, which was restricted to one tank, were swiftly activated by the company and other stakeholders, adding that all staff were safely evacuated from the facility. “All other adjourning facilities have also activated their safety control measures to prevent spread to their facilities. “Our operations team are fully on ground for ongoing investigations and we will continue to provide updates as to probable cause of the incident,” he said. Osu noted that investigation was ongoing to unravel the actual cause of the incident. “Preliminary information about the incident reveals that the fire emanated from a tank within the terminal,” Osu said in the statement. © 2020, maritimemag.
