The distributors of petroleum products have agreed to comply with the new pump price as announced by the federal government recently.

The Zonal Chairman, Association of Distributors and Transporters of Petroleum Products (ADTOP), Alhaji Bashir Dan-Mallam on Friday in Kano announced that members of the association are ready to comply with the new petroleum products price regime.

The Federal Government through its agency, the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC) had recently announced reduction of the price of Diesel (Ago) from N178 per litre to N155 per litre while the price of Kerosene (DPK) has been reduced from N185 per litre to N160 per litre.

Dan-Mallam, during the inspection of the distribution of Petroleum products at the Kano Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) depot lauded the good gesture by the PPMC, a subsidiary of NNPC.

He noted the reduction would help in reducing the prices of commodities and other social services especially during the Easter season and the partial lockdown as a result of the Covid -19 pandemic in Nigeria.

According to him, “the leadership of ADTOP wants to use this opportunity to commend the Federal Government and management of NNPC for reducing the prices of diesel and kerosene as this singular gesture is worthy of commendation by well-meaning Nigerians.”

“This effort is coming at a time our Christian faithfuls are preparing for Easter festival while their Muslim counterparts are also preparing for the Ramadan Fast”.

Dan-Mallam, however, urged all private depots in Nigeria to emulate the NNPC by reducing their prices as part of their contribution towards alleviating the sufferings of the masses.

He further called on food stuffs sellers and dealers of other social services to follow suit in view of the current economic situation in the country.

Dan-Mallam also maintained that ADTOP would continue to support PPMC under the leadership of Mr Musa Lawal and management of NNPC towards ensuring steady supply and distribution of petroleum products throughout the country during and after lockdown period.
