It was reported that the boat with 49 passengers mostly pupils onboard, capsized while conveying them from Badau village to Bagwai. The pupils of Madinatu Islamiyya School were heading to Bagwai to participate in Maulud celebration when the accident happened. Twenty-nine bodies were earlier recovered while seven persons were rescued alive. Meanwhile, the Kano State government has constituted a committee to investigate the accident. It has also provided two buses to support the movement of passengers between Badau village and Bagwai. The state government also distributed relief materials to the families of the victims.
