News Customs Zone “A” Coordinator to Tour Commands, Units By maritimemag July 19, 2018 ShareTweet 0 The Zonal Coordinator in charge of Zone A, Nigeria Customs Service, Assistant Comptroller General, Aminu Dahiru will on Monday begin a two-week tour of all customs commands and units under his jurisdiction. The Zone comprises Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states, all within the south western part of Nigeria. According to a statement by the Zonal PRO, Zone A headquarters Umar S. I, during the visit the ACG will interact with officers and men of the service, stakeholders and host communities where customs formations are located. The visit would also afford Dahiru to have first-hand information on some of the challenges faced by officers and men, how to assist the communities involved and address issues bothering on trade facilitation. According to the itinerary, the two-week tour will start with a visit to the Ikorodu Lighter Terminal, Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A in Ikeja and end at Customs Training College. The working tour will also engage key players in manufacturing and Free Trade Zone to address burning issues associated with international trade. Among the multinationals the Customs boss is scheduled to visit include; International Breweries Plc and British American Tobacco, Nigeria in Oyo State. The ACG is expected to visit the Guangdong Free Trade Zone as part of efforts in sensitising stakeholders and officers on improving trade facilitation. The ACG will also visit and engage stakeholders in Apapa, Tin Can Island, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal, Seme commands within the period. The statement further called on Customs Area Controllers of the scheduled commands to facilitate necessary arrangements for a smooth conduct during the period. © 2018, maritimemag.
