In a press statement signed by Joseph Attah, the Public Relations Officer of the Service, the Comptroller-General Hameed Ali, has approved the redeployment of 70 Comptrollers that is meant to shore up the efficiency of the service in its fight against smuggling, boost revenue collection and promote trade facilitation. Among those affected area Comptrollers Abubakar Bashir who moves from Port-Harcourt 11 (Onne) to Apapa, Musa Jubrin from Apapa to Human Resources Development, Sa’idu Galadima moves from information communication technology (ICT)to Port-Harcourt 11 (Onne), while Comptroller Mohammed Alice of Seme Command swapped positions with Comptroller Mohammed Garba of Federal Operations Unit, Zone’ A’. The redeployment takes immediate effect. The CGC declared that Federal Government policies on Agriculture, Economy and Security can only be successful with a strong, determined and patriotic Customs Service. He also charged all affected officers to bring their experiences to bear in their new postings by fighting smugglers to a standstill and collecting all collectable revenues. ‘In the face of challenging security situation and increasing inclination to non-oil revenue drive, the service must step up to be counted as a necessary safety valve for National growth’, CGC Ali admonished. © 2018, maritimemag.
