HeadlinesNews Customs raises alarm as Boko Haram lays siege on Abuja By maritimemag September 6, 2020 ShareTweet 0 Chinazor Megbolu | The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has raised an alarm over a planned attack on the residents of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as an Islamic sect, Boko Haram terrorist group has layed seige on the City. The warning was as a result of an intelligence report obtained by the Customs High Command that the Boko Haram sect has set up their camps at various locations around the FTC. According to an internal memo dated September 4th, 2020 with reference number ABJ/180/S.I/Vol.11 ,issued and signed by the Comptroller Enforcement, NCS, H.A. Sabo on behalf of the Deputy Comptroller General Enforcement, Investigation, and Inspection, the Customs High Command claimed it has obtained an intelligence report which disclosed that the terrorist group has set up their camps at the following areas around the FCT which includes Kunyam bush along airport road off DIA staff quarters, Abuja, Robochi/Gwagwalada forest, Kwaku forest Kuje -Abuja, Unaisha forest in Tata Local Government of Nasarawa State, Gegu Forest close to Idu town in Kogi State. “Further reports have it that they are planning to attack some select targets within the territory. The memo disclosed that as a result of this development, all Customs formations and security agencies across the country have been placed on red alert and to be security conscious. Meanwhile, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Mallam Garba Shehu, also confirmed the security alert issued by the Customs on Boko Haram terrorist group. According to him; “the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd) has confirmed that the intelligence arm of the agency made certain discoveries of security nature and in line with their duty to the nation, they have drawn the attention of security and intelligence agencies to what they found. “He has, however, not authorised the issuance of any internal memo to his commands on the subject of their discovery” © 2020, maritimemag.
