News Customs Directed to Ensure 100% Physical Examination of Cargoes By maritimemag June 9, 2018 ShareTweet 0 Customs officers and sectional Heads at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Command have been mandated to ensure 100% physical examination of cargoes to Improve revenue generation and also secure the Country. The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Shoboiki Jayne who gave the directive said that without proper examination of Cargoes the releasing officers could release the wrong consignment. She advised the releasing officers to be diligent as the Command management team and Headquarters are monitoring their activities. Shoboiki stressed that the examination officers should be explicit in their Inspection acts for proper valuation, work as a team and adhere to the 7-Cs of Customs. The Controller warned the officers against all acts of indiscipline saying Nigeria Customs Service being a paramilitary organization its officers must be disciplined in a manner approved by the Board and according to the Public Service Rule. Comptroller Shoboiki enjoined officers to embrace that the Nigeria Customs Integrated System II (NICIS II) recently launched so as to realize the Command’s Revenue Target. She further assured that all teething problems associated with the new programme shall be rectified by the Command technical team. She finally congratulated the newly promoted officers and advised those not yet promoted not to be discouraged but put in more efforts, because hard work pays. © 2018, maritimemag.
