By maritimemag October 23, 2021 ShareTweet 0 The Tincan Island Port Complex (TCIPC) on Thursday embarked on donation spree of textbooks and exercise books to ten schools within the host communities. The gesture according to the management of the port, is part of its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the host communities. Port Manager, TCIP, Engr. Ibrahim Yunusa Anji while addressing the students at Alakoto Secondary School, Tolu Complex , expressed the authority’s determination to support educational drive for schools within the community, adding that NPA would always give back to the immediate society in line with it’s CSR. Presenting the gifts, the Port Manager, enjoined the students to study hard and be of good characters to be able to achieve great feats in their endeavours. He charged them to live exemplary lives even as he said to become great in life, requires focus, integrity and resilience. He maintained that the urge to give was borne out of necessity to encourage the students and also to cushion the effect of cost of academics on the parents and students. According to him, the donation was meant to spur them to work harder to become great professionals in life He posited that NPA is determined and dedicated to giving back to the immediate community, pointing out that Tin Can Island Port has a major role to play in the society mostly as it affects education. “If the community is bad, the organisations around it cannot progress and that is why we have to give back to the community. “Our relationship with the community can only get better when we provide for the community because education of the children is paramount. Receiving the gifts on behalf of the schools, Mrs Shefi Yekini, Director of Schools Admin, Education District 5, Agboju, said the gesture was a laudable one “Giving the students books is to encourage them, for them to know that people care about them, that we are interested in their future,we are interested in their education. “Ten schools benefitted from the kind gestures include, ADEOLU JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, TOLU, TINCAN ISLAND JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL, TOLU, ALAKOTO JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL, RESERVATION JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, EXPRESSWAY JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL. The senior schools are: UNITY SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, OSHODI SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, BOLA IGE MILLENNIUM SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, OLUWA MEMORIAL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, NEWLAND SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL” © 2021, maritimemag.
